Where, in all the costly spending on hierarchical pomp
in Canterbury this March day,
is emphasised the simplicity and profundity
of the human discernment and witness
of Jesus to the Golden Rule of total unity;
comprising the role of every element of energy or spirit in life’s flow?
Are we, or are we not, each born of the flow of uncoercive energy
across billions of years, each a significant incarnation or enfleshment
in our short contribution to the endless dance of spirituality and science?
Should not any human gathering be in everyday clothing,
not in colours and medals of rank?
Should not great symbols of BIG BANG and GAIA be held in mind,
signifying our enfleshed role within our short span within eternity?
And held in each mind a UNIVERSAL CROSS
indicative of likely cost in our own unique vocational role?
Should we not address one another by our personal names,
exchanging respect for each other’s specific
global, societal and personal responsibilities,
each exercising our own unique gift,
whatever its scale?
We are all humble arch-servants,
not proud priests or bishops.
