Peter – our new petition calling for public ownership of water in England has already hit more than 125,000 signatures! Wow. Thank you for adding your name
 🙌
Over 125,000 of us. Isn’t that amazing? But here’s something even better: if all of us get two people we know to sign it too, we’ll fly past 375,000 today! Now that really is amazing. So what do you say? Fancy tripling your power, Peter? Could be a parent, neighbour, old friend, new friend, your hairdresser, that person you chat to in the coffee queue sometimes… You can bet most of them are worried about sewage pollution too, but perhaps they haven’t seen our campaign. (Yet!)
There are tons of easy ways to do it. Just click one of the buttons below or copy the email text at the bottom. Then share it! Job done. WhatsApp is the best way to get more people involved:

Thanks for being involved,
Mike, Tom and the 38 Degrees team

NOTES:
[1] 38 Degrees: Bring our water back into public ownership
Here’s the email you can forward on if you don’t use social media:
Hi there, I’ve just signed the petition below calling for the public ownership of water in England. Will you add your name too and then share it far and wide?

This is what has become of our water system…
Dangerous levels of E. coli, 64 times the safe swimming limit, found in the Thames after a sewage spill.
• One former water boss and three colleagues charged over alleged plans to manipulate water quality tests to avoid around £45 million in penalties.
• 23 million households under hosepipe restrictions.
• Water bosses handing themselves HUGE pay rises despite a ban on bonuses and years of failure, pollution and public anger.
That’s just last month. And the same story will continue to repeat itself unless something changes. The evidence is overwhelming: privatisation has failed. It’s time to put people and the environment before profit.
More than 125,000 of us have already signed the petition calling for water to be brought back into public ownership. Will you add your name today?

Every win starts with you, Peter. Thanks to people like you, we can fight – and win – the campaigns that really count. Each campaign takes hours of dedication, from research and polling to organising stunts and getting our message out where it counts. You’re the driving force behind all of it.
