Mother Pelican: October 2025

Mother Pelican
A Journal of Solidarity and SustainabilityVol. 21, No. 10, October 2025

The End of “Business As Usual”?
We are not living in an era of change. What we are experiencing is the end of an era.
The patriarchal phase of human history is passing away, and we have to make a choice.
The choice is between solidarity and sustainability, or domination and self-destruction.
It is time for a cultural revolution, from patriarchal domination to sustainable solidarity.
Speak up. Practice nonviolence. Stop buying nonessential things. Protest peacefully.

5th Anniversary of Fratelli Tutti on Solidarity and Integral Human Development

PATRIARCHY is a deeply ingrained gender ideology with nefarious social and ecological repercussions. There can be no integral human development, and no integral ecology, as long as patriarchy and religious patriarchy lurk in the collective unconscious.

For 1.4B Catholics, 1 November 2025 will mark the 75th Anniversary of the dogma of the ASSUMPTION of Mary of Nazareth. This would be a good time to transcend OT priestly patriarchy.

What is degrowth?
There is an annotated archive with links to all articles published since May 2005.
Human development in harmony with nature is the existential challenge of our time. The mission of this journal is to foster human development within the limits of an integral ecology. You are invited to submit comments, suggestions, and articles for publication. Deadline is the 15th of the month to be considered for the following month.
