The Universal Christ: How a Forgotten Reality Can Change Everything We See, Hope For, and Believe
Most people think that Jesus and Christ are synonymous, but are they? For many years, Father Richard has alluded to Christ not as Jesus’ “last name” but as a much larger manifestation that includes every one of us! In March 2019, we’ll finally have his profound insights synthesized in one power-packed book.
This is my strongest effort to bring together Scripture, theology, and spirituality. My wonderful editors invited me into a rigorous process. No book has ever taken me this long to write or given me such satisfaction!
Why has Father Richard, now seventy-five, poured so much time into this message? The title hints at his motivation. Christ is the pattern for how God—and the universe—works. Understanding that could change absolutely everything.
Richard reintroduces us to Jesus, a personal “face” of God that we could “hear, see, and touch.” If Jesus represents a particular incarnation, Christ is the eternal, ongoing incarnation, the union of matter and spirit, present in all of Creation “from the beginning” and for all time (see Ephesians 1). For Christians, other faiths, and even people of no faith, The Universal Christ offers a way of understanding reality as imbued with purpose and belonging. Every living thing in this universe truly matters! This desperately needed vision for a return to respect, reverence, and wonder is both current and timeless. We believe it is Father Richard’s most theologically important book to date.
