Dennis Kucinich got it right. Stephen Zarlenga’s work — his book The Lost Science of Money and the organization he helped launch, American Monetary Institute — is changing the world in helping individuals to understand that money can and should be a force to liberate people and save the planet.

This is the 20th anniversary of the American Monetary Institute (AMI). We are making a special appeal to support Stephen’s and AMI’s work during this critical post-election period on one of the few issues that individuals from all sides of the political spectrum can agree on — the need to change our nation’s money system.

Our goal is to raise $100,000 over the next three months. We are coming to you first because you are among those already aware of and involved with AMI’s work. Please consider making a generous tax-exempt contribution to AMI to gear up its education, advocacy, and organizing for REAL monetary reform in 2017.

For two decades, AMI has been on the cutting edge of researching how the financial industry has come to hijack our money system to benefit a select few at the expense of the vast majority. By creating money as debt “out of thin air,” banking corporations have amassed incredible power over our economy (and government) and indebted us and future generations. This defies our U.S. Constitution, which holds money creation to be the power and responsibility of government for We the People.

But more than simply identify the problems of our current monetary system, Stephen Zarlenga and the AMI have proposed a realistic and ready-to-implement solution. Using the ideas from AMI, Representative Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) twice introduced in Congress the National Emergency Employment Defense (NEED) Act. This Act would return the power to create money to We the People and, by doing so, would enable us to eliminate our national debt for good, meet our pressing economic and social needs, and reduce the pressure on our ecosystem connected to unending growth to pay off unending interest on the national debt. 

Your contribution to AMI can help to dramatically widen and deepen awareness and grow the movement for passage of the NEED Act. 

These prophetic ideas of fundamental monetary reform are catching on worldwide with organizations forming and movements launching across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas. It’s time this movement takes off for real in the U.S! Yet, in the U.S., many of those who become aware of the money-created-as-debt-by-banks fraud support either state banks or local currencies as THE alternative. However, state banks also create money as debt, and local currencies leave our debt-based money system in force to do its damage yet another day. Only AMI and the NEED Act promote comprehensive systemic reform.  

Your financial support of AMI will help us shift our work from research into action:
– To more broadly spread the word about monetary reform in general and the NEED Act in particular,
– To work with supporters like you at the local level to build awareness, capacity, and power to bring change,
– To identify regional and national allies to create a broad and deep monetary reform movement, and
– To reach out to federal elected officials to reintroduce the NEED Act. 

The time to undertake these actions is NOW. Our banking system, monetary system, economy, and environmental health are all profoundly unsustainable. Simply pointing out these problems without providing a real alternative is irresponsible. The NEED act is both responsible and doable. It won’t happen, however, by magic or “out of thin air.” We need your support.

Any contribution in excess of $50 entitles you to become an AMI “Member” with a 10% discount on purchased materials and registration for the 13th Annual Conference in 2017. Those who contribute at least $250 will receive a 15% discount. And those able to contribute $500 or more will receive an autographed copy of The Lost Science of Money by Stephen as well free registration at the 13th Annual conference.
