Next step for the Lucas Plan project
You are invited to a strategy and planning event on May 13th in London to discuss the way forward for the Lucas Plan project. The event will be 11am – 4.30pm, at the May Day Rooms, 88 Fleet St, London EC4Y 1DH, http://maydayrooms.org/rooms/visiting/. Please put the date in your diary.
Following the success of the conference in November, the organisers feel that it makes sense to continue to use the example and ideas of the Lucas Plan to guide our political work on the issues that face us today. We think that the ideas of socially useful production and bottom-up democratic planning provide a positive response to current environmental, economic and political crises, because they address the root causes of those crises: an economy and technological system that is outside of democratic control and serves the interests of the few at the expense of the many. So, it makes sense to keep the issues of arms conversion, Just Transition, automation/robotics and democratic local economic planning as part of a single project for a transformation of work and the economy. We want to continue the spirit of the Lucas Plan Anniversary conference, so please join us and help build this exciting new initiative.
The Working Group has therefore set up subgroups on those four issues, which have been meeting and will be coming together at the strategy and planning day. Please let us know whether you’re interested in attending the event on May 13, by sending a message to info@breakingtheframe.org.uk. If you would like to be part of one of the subgroups, to be on the overall Working Group email list, or to be connected with other people on this list who live in your area, please also let us know.
