Economic growth is peaking. Pollution and all kinds of waste accumulation keep growing. Human health is deteriorating. Biodiversity is declining. The biosphere is degrading. Anthropogenic climate change is no longer deniable, yet burning of fossil fuels keeps growing to meet the insatiable human demand for exosomatic energy, thereby exacerbating physical and social entropy worldwide. Millions dying in abject poverty. Massive migrations. Tribal scapegoating. Wars everywhere. What next? CONTENTS This edition includes several articles on critical issues of social and ecological justice, and links to significant recent publications and supplementary materials. The sequence of articles follows the see ~ judge ~ act pattern (with some overlaps). It is becoming increasingly clear that the forthcoming transition from growth to post-growth is not likely to be fair and peaceful if global population and consumption keep growing and the culture of power prevails. Can most humans adapt to supply constraints? Peacefully? READ THE SEPTEMBER 2026 ISSUE Human development in harmony with nature is the existential challenge of our time. The mission of this journal is to foster human development within the limits of an integral ecology. There is an annotated archive with links to all articles published since the journal started in May 2005. You are invited to submit comments, suggestions, and articles for publication.
