WHY OR WHAT ON EARTH ARE WE?
You, I and every other human expresses,
in our own way, earth’s bountiful integrity;
itself an aspect of all cosmic creativity,
the interdependency of energising spirit
with all substance, earth or flesh,
within the Ground of all Being.

So too every ant, butterfly, nesting crow,
every flowing stream, each seed, all soil,
any action or emerging thought;
when exercising necessary team-bonding
advances the Common Good, itself the
eternal expression of all unending cosmic creativity.

Microbiology explores how molecules seed DNA
in endless expansion of spirit or energy, even as
expressed in our own modest thread of life.
How are we to stay present to all being
on this earth of tumult and tenderness?
How do we give genuine attention to One World?

Oh my God! Is how many habitually express perplexity
in humanity’s narrow scale of consciousness.
But placing God in ‘heaven’, or anyone in ‘hell’,
is an empty way to describe creativity’s eternal source.
‘The Ground of All Being’, sensed and described
in all faith traditions, stirs deeper personal commitment.
