Dear Peter, As a loyal reader of ‘The Kucinich Report,’ you are familiar with my thinking on a broad range of subjects, particularly current international relations and America’s role in the world. I care deeply for our country and our people. Our nation is presently caught up in unnecessary, dangerous political and international conflicts which could become wider wars. I can no longer stand on the sidelines. After a great deal of thought, and at the request of people I once served in Ohio, I have decided to once again run for Congress. I held this position for 16 years, fighting Washington’s waste, fraud and abuse, and its lust to make wars. I stand for human dignity, human life and the true needs of the American people. I did so in Congress, until I was redistricted. A new district, OH-7, which contains almost half of my former constituency, has since come into being. Its current holder is advocating for wars around the world at the expense of America, our resources and our safety. My allegiance is squarely to America and to the American people, so last week I announced my INDEPENDENT candidacy for Congress, which will enable me to reach out to the fullness of the electorate. When elected, it is possible I will be the only Independent in a closely-divided House. This election is an opportunity to help chart a new course for America, focusing on the economic needs of our people, taking care of things here at home, and building relations abroad, rather than using our scarce resources to make enemies around the world.
