A significant site for later reference perhaps. INTEGRAL LIFE is an important resource for relating our own tasks to the human challenge of recovering from present destructive polarities. It would be inspiring to enter 2024 with collaboration in fueling a body of reports on recovering human sanity and tackling the huge range of polarities threatening to destroy us. I hope it might encourage us all in sharing more of the contributions you and your contacts are making. Peter

As 2023 comes to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on the many blessings of our year. This has been a very busy and eventful year for Integral Life! Below you can find some of the major highlights, as well as our selections for the best releases of 2023.
From Content to Contemplation
This year we’ve seriously elevated our weekly content with new features such as insight maps, polarity maps, downloadable transcripts, and key questions with every new release, offering more ways to expand your understanding and deepen your contemplation.
Celebrating 20 Years of Integral Membership
It was on April 21st, 2003 that we released our very first piece of membership content, embarking on an incredible adventure that has led us to where we stand today — as a thriving and ever-evolving community at IntegralLife.com. Thank you for being an integral part of our community, and here’s to the next 20 years of growth, exploration, and transformation!
A Year of Polarities
Polarity thinking is essential in order to navigate and understand today’s increasingly polarized world. Every content piece includes a list of fundamental polarities, including full descriptions and practices to both harmonize and integrate each polarity. Check out our new Polarity Maps catalogue, available to all members.
A New Emergence
2023 was the year that AI crashed on our shores, an ontological shock that prompted us to create a suite of new tools for Integral Life members — beginning with Holo, our friendly AI assistant, available to all supporting members, as well as a number of quadrant, polarity, and perspective tools that you can find on the AI section of the site.
Context: AI-Augmented Thinking
Much of our work with AI culminated in the launch of Context, an AI-augmented integral thinking platform, which merges AI with mental model visualization to help integral thinkers, teachers, coaches, academics, and analysts to more easily map integral territories. We’ve already begun integrating these maps in a number of Integral Life releases this year, which you can find in our Context Maps catalogue.
Institute of Applied Metatheory
2023 was also the year we launched the Institute of Applied Metatheory, a volunteer-led social action think tank formed to bring “big picture” integral thinking to the world’s most challenging problems. You’ll be hearing more about IAM projects in the coming months.
Integral Dharma
Finally, we closed the year with the launch of Integral Dharma, an exciting new training program by Ryan Oelke, designed to help you awaken to your deepest and most timeless self, and to experience and embody integral ideas from the inside-out.

THE BEST OF 2023
This never-before published essay by Ken Wilber (part of the famous Volume II excerpt series) delves into the intricate dynamics of social evolution, emphasizing the interplay between technological advancements, cultural worldviews, and governance systems. Through an integral lens, Wilber explores the potential for new and more authentic modes of being and consciousness to emerge, emphasizing the evolutionary Eros that drives social transformation. In this enlightening episode of The Ken Show, hosts Ken Wilber and Corey deVos embark on a profound journey through the multifaceted realms of systems theory, communication, and social evolution. They dissect the nuanced perspectives of “inside” and “outside” views in systems, delve into the transformative power of communication paradigms throughout history, and critically examine the influence of social media on the overall emergence of integral consciousness. The conversation ends with a powerful discussion on the symbiotic relationship between personal transformation and social transformation, advocating for a holistic approach to finding radical wholeness in an increasingly fragmented world. Robb Smith joins co-hosts Bruce Alderman and Corey deVos in our first episode of Integral Life’s new AI series, where together they grapple with the profound “ontological shock” and societal transformation prompted by the emergence of AI, exploring its impact across education, personal lives, and organizations. They delve into the potential risks and benefits of AI, its role in discourse shaping, the evolving perceptions of AI, and the transformative potential of AI-aided technologies, all while weaving in spiritual insights and invoking a deeper understanding of our interconnectedness in this transformative age. Evolution is typically a very slow and gradual process, where something like natural selection occurs over a great many generations, often taking millions of years for new traits to emerge. But every once in awhile we see sudden leaps in the evolutionary record — rare and rapid events of branching speciation known as “punctuated equilibrium” Dr. Keith and Corey explore the parallels and differences between the Cambrian explosion and the rapid evolution of human consciousness, discussing the profound impacts of technological and cultural advancements on our collective development. Watch now.
Terri O’Fallon and Keith Martin-Smith dive into a deeper and more detailed exploration of Terri’s STAGES model, focusing on a smaller section of the model: stages 3.0 – 6.0 (roughly Amber/Orange to Turquoise/Indigo). In the STAGES model, structure-stages (Amber, Orange, Green, Teal, etc.) and state-stages (Gross, Subtle Causal, Witness, Nondual) begin to merge and stabilize. Terri explains exactly how this happens, and how both states and stages underlie the developmental process. She then outlines what makes each level of her model unique from the last, what causes people to shift from one level to another, as well as what the mature expressions look like for 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0 stages. As we evolve in our understanding and self-awareness, we bear a greater onus to guide, uplift, and positively influence those around us. This responsibility is especially important in the realm of relationships, where the path to trust and understanding is often fraught with challenges, yet rich with opportunities for growth. Watch as Dr. Keith Witt and Corey deVos delve into the profound interdependence between human development and responsibility, exploring how our deepening self-awareness shapes our relationships and societal roles in an ever-evolving world. Freedom of speech is the cornerstone of democracy itself, and a principle that needs to be fought for and renewed with every new generation. As speech itself continues to evolve, so do the sorts of challenges that come along with it — and in today’s information age, those challenges have become as complicated as ever. Mark Fischler and Corey deVos are joined by Nadine Strossen, a renowned advocate for free speech and former president of the ACLU, to traverse the rich history and the evolving frontier of free speech — a legacy that reaches from the philosophical debates of ancient Greece to today’s dynamic platforms of social media. Together, Nadine, Mark, and Corey illuminate the journey of free speech (a crowning achievement of the rational/modern (Orange) stage) celebrating it as a beacon of individual rights and a testament to the unyielding human pursuit of truth and expression. Watch now.
We are joined by special guest, longtime friend, and Presidential candidate Marianne Williamson. Join us as we take an inside look at Marianne’s campaign and the core principles of love, peace, and compassion that it is built upon. Marianne’s unflinching commitment to transforming the many deep-rooted dysfunctions of our political, economic, and technological systems is deeply inspiring, as is her call to return to love in our relationship to each other and to the world around us. Watch now.
Brad Kershner offers a deep and detailed criticism of standard DEI approaches (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion), highlighting the complexities of ethnicity, race, and cultural evolution. He challenges prevailing educational metaphors grounded in the postmodern perspective, advocating for a more universal application of modern liberal values, and emphasizing the need for a nuanced understanding to forge a more genuine and generative path forward for social justice. Read now.
Corey deVos joins Keith to discuss how our notions of sex, gender, and identity apply to some of the most contentious and pressing issues of our time, and how they can be integrated into a more integral dialectic. In order to answer the question “what is a man” (or “what is a woman”), Keith and Corey carefully track sex, gender, and identity as fundamental aspects of the self that can exist in a state of fusion, differentiation, dissociation, or integration, depending on the developmental stage(s) the question is being asked from. Join us as we push even further into the front lines of the culture war skirmishes that have become so plentiful over the last several years. Watch now.
Dr. Keith and Corey examine a troubling new trend in psychotherapy, where woke ideologies are being imposed in the therapist’s office and interfering with client-based approaches to mental health. Prompted by Lisa Davis’s insightful article “How Therapists Became Social Justice Warriors” in The Free Press, Keith and Corey delve into the evolving role of therapists in the current sociopolitical climate. The conversation doesn’t shy away from tackling controversial social issues, including racial tensions, privilege, and the concept of safe spaces, attempting to honor the positive contributions of frameworks like critical race theory and critical social justice while also cautioning against their unhealthy, counterproductive, or even destructive aspects. Watch now.
Mark and Corey are joined by Chris Orrey, a retired police lieutenant with over 30 years of service with the Hayward, California Police Department, to discuss the abuse and resulting death of Tyre Nichols, who was severely beaten and ultimately killed by five Memphis police officers after a routine traffic stop. What allowed this tragedy (and others like it) to take place? What sorts of personal, cultural, and institutional transformation are necessary to prevent something like this from occurring again? Watch now.
