Peter, yesterday we stood up to greedy bankers with a protest outside the Bank of England and made a HUGE splash all over the news This latest interest rate hike will only bring more pain and misery for the most vulnerable people across the UK – and does nothing to address the root causes of our soaring rent, food and energy and mortgage bills. Our protest was featured in Good Morning Britain, BBC News, LBC News, Evening Standard and TalkTV to name a few. We called out the absurdity of ballooning profits from the UK’s 4 biggest banks (which total nearly £30 billion for the first half of 2023 alone, which they’ve made off of higher interest rates) to renew our demand for a windfall tax.
