It’s quite clear that our elected leaders are not listening to people’s concerns as our politicians are mostly bought and paid for by the shadowy powers that are setting the agenda from behind the scenes. Hence, effecting deep change by engaging in attentive and patient dialogue alone I see as only one of a cornucopia of non-violent approaches to implement change. There are many good-hearted people out there striving every day to implement positive changes in whatever way they can. This may be by removing their children from state funded schools to home school them or setting up alternative approaches to co-operate with each other to build a better society.

In July last year, one of my Swiss friends moved to El Paraiso Verde [The Green Paradise] (EPV), Paraguay, from Zürich at age 80! He had had enough of the totalitarian policies being rolled out by the corrupt Swiss government. The language in Paraguay is of course Spanish, but in the EPV German-English speaking Christian community, circa 80% speak German as their first language. We read in Matthew the story of Jesus expelling the merchants and the money changers from the Temple, the only time Jesus lost his temper and became violent. Over 2,000 years later the same monetary system is still in place.
