View this email in your browser![]() Dear Holos Earth Friends, We billed the on-line webinar as the ultimate dialogue for this time. It promised to be a provocative presentation, Marcus Link’s inquiry into what it would take for humanity to become a beneficial keystone species for nature. It turned out to be a generative, joyful and inspiring event – ultimately focusing on the creation of beauty. And the response was beautiful too. Such a rich conversation in the immediate live follow-up and into the next days by email and on social media. As an example, we share a poem by Richard Wain which he wrote in response to the event followed by my reflections on the event. But first, here’s the much-awaited recording of the session over on our YouTube Channel. Please like, comment, and share as you see fit to support this message getting out into the world. We felt so blessed that we asked for his permission to share it with you. So here it is. A song from the edge of the universe by Richard Wain Sing from the edge of the universe Each moment a calling to be A vision of all that is living The delta, the lung and the tree Follow the voice at the centre The womb and the heart of the earth Evolving to greet all companions As guests at our conscious rebirth Sing softly to dragonfly wing beats Let the great mother tree be your guide And dance like the ants and the aphids to the soul music nature provides Sing out with the voice that lies dormant Sing out with your own wild song Sing out to the roots and the mountains Let all the lost voices grow strong Invite oceans to vote for their leaders Let the forests hold shares in big oil Let the honeybees plan our cities Let the earthworms reclaim their soil Sing at the edge of the universe At one with the sweet melody A vision of all that is living Each moment a calling to be Richard is a creative storyteller both as a professional marketer and as a poet. He reads his work out loud. He says that helps him relax and face up to Life’s Little Dramas. Reflections on the talk We were to explore the question, on the one hand of whether those who despaired at humanity’s seemingly disastrous footprint in this Anthropocene era and consequently questioned our right to continue to exist, were right. On the other hand, whether there was indeed hope that we could take our rightful place in cosmic evolution, especially since we are already a keystone species. Marcus presented insightful facts and perspective how mutualism and collaboration occurs in nature – how cooperative systems emerge at multiple and multidimensional levels. Along with that came the invitation to learn from nature’s regenerative processes and adjust our own behaviours, especially our consumption patterns and food production systems. The late Lawrence Bloom suggested that we were no longer in an era of change – we were indeed in a change or era. In the Holos Project we suggested that the change of era is from Logos (truth identified in abstract linear rational science) to Holos (truth experienced subjectively in organic emergent process.) Lawrence Bloom also suggested, from an ecological and eco-systemic perspective, that we were in the middle of an intelligence test – if we failed the penalty would be beyond our worst nightmares – if we succeeded the prize would be beyond our wildest dreams. Now from the holistic perspective creative evolution, nature in its deepest cosmic dimension, works with ‘what works’. And what works not only relates to that which serves to disrupt that which no longer works, but especially that which enables systemic coherence and greater levels of complexity. Consequently, from the holistic perspective humanity is an expression of nature’s most successful and complex interactions. So, it seems nature patiently tolerates our mistakes and invites us to follow her guidance. Her intelligence is what enabled us and indeed lives within us as we live within her – we are one after all. In mapping nature’s natural processes Marcus showed us how to receive nature’s guidance. So, Lawrence Bloom’s intelligence test might be less about developing even smarter algorithms and ever more powerful information processing technology, and more about rediscovering our deeper inner being and becoming which is waiting to be reactivated. Marcus’ presentation implicitly revealed the truth that ultimately our highest level of consciousness will be the realisation of our embeddedness in the fullness of nature and our conscious embodiment of what that means as a potentially beneficial keystone species. In this process holism’s author, Jan Christian Smuts, suggested that the universe was individualizing whilst the individual was universalising. I look forward to more!Until next time, Claudius van Wyk ![]() Copyright (C) 2022 The Holos Project. All rights reserved. You are receiving this email because you opted in via our website.
