THE THESIS IS SIMPLE: Our present ways of knowing are imbalanced, which has skewed the economic system and reduced the commons of the ordinary world into commodities and money. Since all people have two brain hemispheres which process complementary views on the nature of reality as a whole and as a part, a foundation exists for economic knowledge that is both universal and pluralistic. The development of this theory of knowledge [epistemology] will reunite the economy with the commons [ontology] – JBQ
ITS APPLICATION IS OUR TOUGH TASK …. in which we must each respect each other’s contribution and starting point.

Of most particular interest to people of ‘good faith’ is the book lunch on Sunday Oct 28th 2.30-5.00pm. Not least because it is now becoming the launch pad also for a series of three day conferences in London churches in the Spring, developing the implications of a Theology of Land. Those dates are April 6, May 4th and June 1st. Details will follow.
James Quilligan, our guest moderator, will be fresh from the ‘Awakened World 2012’ conference in Rome and Florence among key members of the International Interreligious Peace Council and their peers from the world’s religious and spiritual communities in 20 countries, Before that lead role in Rome and Florence last week, James presented a detailed proposal for a Great Lakes Commons Trust at a Regional Commons Gathering in South Bend, Indiana. He is a philosopher and development economist of repute, who from carefully articulated vision to effective change, fathoms the depths and possibilities of a Replenishing Global Economy. Today he will help us to apply these challenges to the UK scene as we take another broad step in the development of an effective Alliance, by comparing hearing a number of approaches to the task.
