Published in Kosmos today – COMMON KNOWING – by James Quilligan
This is part 3 of James’ studies ‘Toward a Common Theory of Value’
THE THESIS IS SIMPLE:
Our present ways of knowing are imbalanced, which has skewed the economic system and reduced the commons of the ordinary world into commodities and money. Since all people have two brain hemispheres which process complementary views on the nature of reality as a whole and as a part, a foundation exists for economic knowledge that is both universal and pluralistic. The development of this theory of knowledge [epistemology] will reunite the economy with the commons [ontology]. .JBQ
ITS APPLICATION IS OUR TOUGH TASK
……. in which we must each respect each other’s contribution and starting point.

From the final of the 5 Quilligan seminars yesterday came the request for back up on matters raised in the all too brief and stimulating two hours we had in POrtcullis House.
Associates of the Global Table and of CCMJ may wish have these resources on file.
Dear Friends in an evolving sense of our common being,
Yesterday strongly advanced our explorations of movement building in the context of the five Quilligan Seminars on systemic change and the importance of the commons in the rediscovery of sane global housekeeping.
I promised some basic papers to be kept on accessible file against their appropriate use in your work; and a focus in the website of the School of Commoning.
1 The formal definition of the commons from the Global Commons Trust
2. The extant contemporary modelling of a bio-regional Great Lakes Community Trust to engage an entire community in the preservation/restoration of the Great Lakes – presented to a large interdisciplinary body in that region only this month – adopted for deeper study.
3. Charles Secrett challenging article Building a Movement from Resurgence
4. Access to Frank Taylor’s Runnymede Project and the Purton Declaration
5. Reference to Paul Moore’s New Wilberforce Alliance in the form of a draft invitation that might be designed to widen an alliance
Finally

Commons Movement Sense-Making
The global commons movement is gathering again
I’ve said finally, so this must be a postscript>>>>>>>>
James Quilligan latest part of his study in the Toward a Common Theory of Value : Part Three: Common Knowing’ will be sent to you on the day of its publication in Kosmos – Nov. 1st
Yours along the challenging pilgrims’ way,
Peter
